Morning Classics with Dwight Davis

Weekday Mornings with Dwight Davis on WHRO

Wake up to soothing and beautiful sounds with Dwight beginning at 5am. He’ll ease you into your day with news, weather & traffic on the half-hour, as well as Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac to punctuate the great classics he serves up in his charming and informative way.

About Dwight Davis

Dwight Davis has been working in classical music radio since 1973. A graduate of Norview High School and Elon College, he served in the Army, then taught science, until an opening appeared at WGH-FM. With no radio experience, he was, by his own admission, not a particularly good announcer. But his love and knowledge of music held him in good stead. He came to WHRO-FM in 1983, and is now Music Director.

Though by nature not a morning person, Dwight has been a morning host for most of his radio career. In addition to his daily program (5 to 10 a.m.), he hosts the weekly Sunday morning program "Your Musical Brunch" featuring a musical montage tailored to fit your Sunday morning routine and highlighting the weeks upcoming arts events! You'll also find Dwight hosting the Sunday afternoon "From the Parlor" program as well as co-hosting the Friday morning "Request Show" with Hope Mihalap.

Dwight and his wife Holly have twin daughters, Whitney, attending UVA, and Emily, attending Virginia Tech. In his spare time Dwight likes to go birdwatching, collect and make smoking pipes, and maintain his 1974 VW beetle.
