WHRO ADDS WHAT MATTERS TO FRIDAY NIGHT LINEUP
Exclusive Interview with Former W&M President Gene Nichol
Launches New Public Affairs Program

Norfolk: WHRO has reconfigured its Friday night television lineup on TV15 and 15.1HD, returning the station to its original Friday night schedule of public affairs programming.  With the addition of What Matters, a weekly half hour program that takes a fresh look at the issues, people, concerns and community affairs that matter to the people of Hampton Roads, WHRO adds a local perspective to the lineup of PBS/national programming.  The series premieres with an exclusive conversation with Gene Nichol, the former President of William & Mary, in his first interview after leaving that post in February 2008.  Nichol talks with Cathy about his departure from the college, the strain it put on his family, and his future plans.  He also has advice for anyone contemplating the presidency of a college or university.
What Matters is produced by Barbara Hamm and hosted by Cathy Lewis – two veterans of public affairs broadcasting.
Cathy is host of HearSay with Cathy Lewis, the popular lunch hour talk show that debuted on WHRV 89.5 in October 1996.  She’s a regular winner of reader polls in PortFolio Weekly and Hampton Roads Magazine.  An award-winning veteran of television and radio, Lewis is a popular keynote speaker and moderator at forums, panels and seminars that bring people together to talk about the important issues that face citizens of the region and the nation.  She is also Executive Director of The CIVIC Leadership Institute.
What Matters will premiere at 8:30 on Friday, March 28th, with a repeat at 10:30, and is part of WHRO’s Friday night public affairs lineup:

8:00 – Washington Week
8:30 – What Matters
9:00 – Bill Moyers Journal
10:00 – NOW with David Brancaccio
10:30 – What Matters (repeat from 8:30)
