WHRO EXECUTIVES RECOGNIZED BY NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Brayboy Awarded McCormick Tribune Fellowship;
Crum Appointed to National Educational Telecommunications Association Committee
Norfolk: WHRO announced today that two of its top executives have been recognized by national industry organizations.
Chief Operating Officer, Regina P. Brayboy, has been awarded a McCormick Tribune Fellowship in media management. The fellowship is administered by Northwestern University’s Media Management Center and is a joint venture of the Kellogg School of Management, the Medill School of Journalism and the National Association of Broadcasters. The fellowship year consists of participation in a custom executive education seminar and attendance at a fellows forum which focuses on innovation and strategic leadership, and examines pressing industry challenges. As a recipient, Ms. Brayboy will join the McCormick Tribune Fellows Brain Trust which provides research on media initiatives.
Participating in a highly competitive selection process, Brayboy received one of only eight fellowships awarded nationally. “The opportunities that technology affords and the sweeping changes in the media landscape will continue to change the field exponentially. It’s a thrilling – and a challenging time – for everyone in the media,” said Brayboy. “I’m very excited about working with the some of the best minds in the industry to explore these opportunities.”
Chief Education Officer Lawrence E. Crum has been appointed to the new AGC Education Committee of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). The committee is a mix of General Managers and Education Directors from a variety of national public television licensees, as well as representatives from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
“At the first stages, the committee will work together to identify and coordinate current education activities at the local level, and will afford us the opportunity to share what works with our colleagues across the country,” said Crum. “Later phases will be identified after the initial data is analyzed.”
