Best Practices for Teaching & Learning

This program shows the unique aspects, benefits and importance of satellites through demonstrations and simple experiments. Students learn about all key parts of a satellite and how they work. Then, in a hands-on activity, students create their own satellite.

Shared & Guided Reading

Shared Reading – In the early elementary classroom, shared reading begins with a community of readers, a big book, and a focus of instruction. Shared reading, in the upper elementary classroom, unfolds in the classroom with the use of assessments, material, technology, and classroom management.

Guided Reading – Guided reading unfolds in a series of steps: planning a focus for instruction, selecting a piece of short text, and setting a purpose for reading. All this beings and ends with a review of student assessments.
