2011-2012 WHRO Classroom Guide Online

Welcome to the 2011-2012 WHRO Classroom Guide Online! This year we are featuring 'PBS Classroom Resources' including descriptions of teacher resources available from the producers of both prime time and children's programming. The descriptions indicate if the site has streaming video and what resources exist including games, lesson plans, places for students to submit work, etc. We also have links to interactive whiteboard games from PBS Kids and information about LIVE instructional programs we will be carrying on WHRO 15.1. Under Continuing Education you’ll find our parenting, professional development and adult education programs. Contact information and School Representatives are listed under Quick Links.

“Hand” was submitted by Great Computer Challenge contestants from the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk. The team, sponsored by Chris Tompkins, includes: Tyler Lockard, Mijeong Moon, Tynesha Foreman, Shanika Wray. Their challenge was to create a new symbol which represents their school by using only flat-colored shapes. For their work, the team won second place in the 2011 GREAT COMPUTER CHALLENGE in the Level 4 Graphic Arts category!
