What is it that makes each of us different? The answer, of course, can be found in our genes and in the study of genetics. Students will learn that the story of genetics began more than 100 years ago with Mendel's work with plants. That story is still unfolding today as scientists make remarkable advances in the fields of DNA, medicine and genetic engineering. The program concludes with a discussion of the human genome project and the concern it raises about how this new knowledge will be put to use.
