Death Of A Whale [574.5]

Grades: 6-12

Length: 1/18 Minute
Rights: Perpetuity with Distribution and Duplication

In December 1992, a 28-foot sperm whale washed ashore at Wrightsville Beach, N.C. The emaciated female soon died in the surf. When a necroscopsy was performed, the whale's stomach was full of marine debris. This program is an unforgettable lesson about the dangers of marine debris and the implications of this young whale's death for the health of our marine environment. SOL correlation: S: 5.6, 6.11, LS.12, BIO.5.
