Living with the Indians (outreach program)

Students handle and analyze clothing, bone tools, pottery, and other reproduction artifacts of the Powhatan Indian culture. They learn the ways the Powhatans effectively used their environment and the day-to-day jobs in and around a Powhatan village. Classes also receive materials to make their own rope.

Let our Foundation guide lead your group on a curriculum-based, inquiry-oriented tour of Jamestown Settlement. Students get involved with significant aspects of the English, Powhatan, and African cultures of the 17th-century colony at Jamestown Settlement.
