Bernie's Toes http://www.vims.edu/adv/ed/bt/bt99lessons2.html
Students hear the story of "Bernie's Toes," then discuss effects of humans on Chesapeake Bay water quality and fisheries. They observe a Secchi disk and locate Bernie's childhood home on a map. Students produce graphs showing changes in various aspects of the Patuxent River area, then discuss relationships or trends. Sand-Shakes & Mud-Pies http://www.baylink.org/lessons/3fr_mud-pies.html Students collect sediment samples from different wet habitats, measure and compare sediment composition from these sites in order to find relationships between sediment size and various environmental factors.
