TECH TREK

Tech Trek is...

  • A week long immersion into technology.
  • Real answers from real teachers using real technology to teach SOL based lessons with real results.
The Tech Trek Philosophy...
  • Teaching about Technology - the basics
  • Teaching with Technology - model SOL lesson plans
  • Teaching through Technology - self directed products
Attendees...
  • Increase technical competence.
  • Identify where technology readily enhances instruction.
  • Develop core curriculum lessons demonstrating a student's competency in the state technology SOLs.
  • Become facilitators of learning using technology as a tool.
The Pedagogy...
  • Each educator registering receives a needs assessment.
  • The curriculum is then tailored to meet individual needs.
  • Forty-five networked computer stations (windows and MAC) provide a complete hands-on experience.
  • National consultants, state and local technology integration leaders, and lab assistants provide individualized instruction for all.
Attendees leave with knowledge of: Spreadsheets, Databases, Multimedia Presentation Tools, and the use of Internet and HTML document development in the classroom.

TECH TREK: The Next Generation
  • Are you looking to push the “technology integration envelope” and to go where no teacher has gone before?

  • Are you ready to explore new educational  technology frontiers?

  • Are you ready to move beyond the basics and to take your students on exciting educational adventures using technology in new, innovative and pedagogically sound ways?

    If you answered yes (or even maybe) to any one of these questions, then Tech Trek: The Next Generation is the place for you.

Scheduled for July 12-July 16, 2010, Tech Trek: The Next Generation promises to be one of the best educational technology integration events on the planet, or at least in this part of Virginia.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Teaching online using Desire to Learn;
  • Creating multimedia presentations incorporating digital video, animation, and sound;
  • Advanced uses of databases and spreadsheets integrating realtime data.
  • A variety of new and emerging technologies, such as wireless networking, podcasting, blogs, and streaming video, will also be highlighted.

Although the formal instructional sessions assume that you understand the basics and will move at a brisk pace, the instructors are more than willing to conduct refresher sessions on specific topics on an ad hoc basis throughout the week. Take your educational technology skills to the next level by attending Tech Trek: The Next Generation.  Contact your local C.I.I. Rep or C.I.I. Service Participant Rep for more details and funding options. Tech Trek is no longer covered by the regional NCLB EdTech grant.
