Since the creation of Virginia's PBS TeacherLine in 2000, many local public schools have actively participated in providing courses and graduate credits to their educators. Due to the success of Virginia's PBS TeacherLine courses as part of the C.I.I./WHRO NCLB EdTech Grant, when the public schools sought to provide high-quality training for their Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs), they chose Virginia’s PBS TeacherLine and ISTE as partners.
Over the last year several local school districts have selected the PBS TeacherLine/ISTE NETS•T Certificate of Proficiency Capstone Program as a way for their ITRTs to receive their NETS•T certification. Upon completion of the 32-week, three-phase course set, participants will have national NETS*T (National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers) certification, full state re-certification, graduate credits and a digital portfolio to use to assist teachers and students in integrating technology into daily classroom practice. In addition, these ITRTs will be instrumental in providing information about other Virginia’s PBS TeacherLine training opportunities to classroom teachers looking for “just in time” training in instructional technology and the content areas.
Congratulations to Norfolk that has over thirty ITRTs that have completed the PBS TeacherLine/ISTE NETS*T Certificate of Proficiency Capstone Program and are now NETS*T certified, Virginia Beach with twenty-three CRSs that recently began the program and Newport News with twenty-four TCISs that will soon begin!
We look forward to working with your district!
