The second annual piggy bank pageant is an opportunity for Virginia Saves to encourage families to establish a savings plan for their future and to help families reduce debt. The piggy bank pageant is targeted to children in grades K – 6 and is a great opportunity for parents to talk with children about importance of having savings.
How it works:
Kids from K-6 grade can enter by creating a "pig" or other creative bank from materials they have at home. They can print out the entry form from Virginia Saves website. They take the bank and the entry form to participating financial partners before Feb 20th for public display through Feb 28.
Participants will provide answers to pageant questions that might be asked in a live pageant. Questions such as, “what gave you the idea for your bank” and “what are you planning to save for” and “why is saving important”. These questions will be on the entry form provided by the participant as they enter the pig.
A photo of the bank will be uploaded to Virginia Saves Facebook site. Voting is done on line based on the number of "likes" the picture receives.
First prize winners will receive a ($100 savings bond). We will award first second ($75 savings bond) and third prizes ($50 savings bond) for each age category.
